Fountaine Pajot catamarans first choice for America’s Cup

Fountaine Pajot catamarans have been chosen as official vessels for the 33rd America’s Cup, proving their reputation for speed, comfort and offshore performance.

The Cumberland 46, one of the Flagship vessels in the Trawler range of power catamarans, was selected from an international field as the preferred Official Organisation Boat for the prestigious event.

The Cumberland 46 has been designed to maximise fuel economy and offshore performance with extraordinary results. Its low water resistance and streamlined hydrodynamic feature affords an immediate 40 per cent reduction in fuel consumption. This makes the Cumberland 46 particularly appealing to long-haul cruising enthusiasts with its standard engines offering a range of 1,000nm at 7 knots (14 litres per hour). Range can be increased by addition fuel tanks (optional).

Designed by world-renowned architects O. Flahault and Joubert/Nivelt, the Cumberland 46 features a sleek interior design with an emphasis on space and ease of movement. It has a superbly redesigned galley, a more expansive Owner’s Stateroom, a new transom for improved boarding, generous use of luminous sycamore timbers and a host of other special features.

Fountaine Pajot was also selected to build Alinghi’s VIP boat as well as the specialty TMB 37 press boat for use throughout the event.
