Tahiti Pearl Regatta

Date of event: May 23, 2017

Locale: French Polynesia

Multihull Solutions are proud to sponsor the biggest festive sailing regatta in the Pacific Islands, the prestigious Tahiti Pearl Regatta.

The dream twelve years ago was to organize a yearly sailing party in the Leeward Islands of French Polynesia, hence the newly formed Raiatea Regatta Association. Since then, the “TPR” has become the biggest sailing and festive regatta of the Pacific islands and a truly international nautical event.

Open to all monohulls of multihulls, whatever their size, the ‘TPR’ is co-organised by the Tahitian Sailing Federation, the Raiatea Regatta Association and Archipelagoes and is governed by the 2013-2015 ISAF racing rules.

Providing an ideal balance between a sporting competition and a festive discovery of the islands, the TPR will take place between the islands of Raiatea, Huahine and Tahaa. At sea: lagoon and inter-islands races. On the shore: the TPR Village in Uturoa (Raiatea) and, of course, the famous themed evenings in each of the islands.

A vast maritime territory, Polynesia has become a top-level nautical destination for yachts. Sailors find here optimal sailing conditions – regular winds, sun, no swell in the lagoons, small tidal range… – and benefit from the long-term investments of both private and public actors: development of the nautical sector, new communication supports, promotion and special offers, new infrastructures (buoys, pontoons, marinas…). The assets come in numbers to enable yachtsmen to live a legendary experience: to discover Polynesia from the sea.

Raiatea, the sacred island – The heart of the most ancient Polynesian civilization, Raiatea also stands out as a landmark for nautical tourism. A 150m-long wharf awaits the visitors, along with all the necessary facilities and services: marinas, boat yards, suppliers, etc. The main town of Uturoa has all amenities and is located near the Appoiti marina. The Uturaerae technical zone offers services such as maintenance and marine supplies. From many other anchorages, one can swim, dive, surf, navigate up the Faaora river and of course, visit the sacred marae of Taputapuatea which is renowned in the whole Polynesian triangle to Hawaii and New Zealand.

Other recommended anchorages : Topua and Tapu islets (bathing, snorkeling), Teveiroa (well sheltered, few meters deep with sand bottom, corals snorkeling spot close at hand), the area between Piti Aau and Tarere islands (sandy grounds, good snorkeling and diving spots not far), or near Tofiri islet (great view over mount Otemanu).

vahineHuahine, the garden of Eden – With its silhouette evoking a woman lying on her back, its quiet villages and its wild nature, Huahine generously offers its charms to the visitor. In the two islands, Huahine Nui, Huahine Iti and the isthmus between them, the visitor discovers peaceful bays, fish-bearing lagoons and white-sand beaches. Fare, the main village, has shops, restaurants, banks and a market for local producers. While sailing around the islands, ships will anchor in superb pristine bays, like Otaioro, Port Bourayne and in the sumptuous Avea Bay, reef side.
