Patrick arrives in La Rochelle - chilly!

Anyone would be forgiven for thinking beautiful La Rochelle in France had been taken over by Multihull Solutions this April.

Services manager Nod Crook and general manager Patrick Gilot are spending the month at Fountaine Pajot’s La Rochelle shipyards to receive, commission and hand over five new sailing catamarans to Australian clients. We will be bringing you regular updates of their progress on this blog throughout the month.

Patrick and Nod will also be assisted by Multihull Solutions’ associates Daniel Hobbs (Classic Yacht Shipwrights), Romain Crozon, as well as Pierre Menardon and his La-Rochelle based company Uchimata who will facilitate the ex-factory installation processes.

During first two weeks, the team will be accepting the boats from Fountaine Pajot, carefully reviewing them and completing any ex-factory installations or commissioning requested by the individual owners.

During April, all owners arrive in France. Nod and Patrick will greet them on arrival in France and help them settle into their La Rochelle accommodation. They will then guide them through a technical handover and sea trial of their respective catamarans, as well as assisting them with the provisioning and setting up of their boats for living aboard.

Once all the clients are happily settled aboard, those who have requested sail training will embark of several days personalised tuition with our La-Rochelle based instructor, Alain.

In the final week, Nod and Patrick look forward to spending time sailing with all the owners and helping with their final preparations before they depart for the warmer waters of the Mediterranean and the start of their European summer cruising season.

The lucky Australian owners include:

  • Gordon and Louise Coates (Helia 44) who plan to sail to the Med for the summer, and leaving the boat in Turkey for the European winter. They will then return in 2014 for the Atlantic crossing to the Caribbean.
  • Jim Freeman and Peter Bailey and their families (Orana 44) who plan to head to Barcelona to meet other relatives before cruising the Mediterranean.
  • Bill and Rachelle Morrison (Orana 44) who are looking forward to sailing down the coast and across the Med after handover. They will then deliver their Orana to Dream Yachts in Turkey where the catamaran will join this popular charter fleet.
  • Tony and Heather Skinner, and Patricia Yates (Lipari 41) plan to cruise the Med for summer before making the crossing to the Caribbean at the end of the year.
  • Kevin McGreal – plans to be confirmed.

Standby for more updates!
