The Nautitech Open 40 is fast becoming a strongly sort after cruising catamaran in Australian Waters, it has particularly been popular in Queensland because of it’s vast open cockpit area with full protection above from the elements. They are a modern craft with stealth like lines to the hull with square bows to give her maximum waterline length in a very easy to manage 12m vessel. The interior has been designed to maximise room for a modern and functional layout with an alfresco style of galley and aft entertaining area giving everyone more than enough space to spread out and relax.
These modern lines make it stand out from the crowd and if you really enjoy your sailing this is the craft for you. It has been designed to be a true sailing vessel that will perform well and not require you to run noisy engines all day as commonly seen in many other catamarans coming on the market today. With the added benefit of dagger boards the Nautitech Open 40 will easily point high to windward and keep up with well sailed monohulls. “Who said cats can’t point?”
The Nautitech has a very bright, light & modern galley forward in the saloon that give you stunning views of the water. This layout frees up the rear area of the internal saloon and the aft deck for entertaining while still allowing easy serving of food. There’s good sun protection aft as well with the full-length hardtop bimini. This elongated sheltered cockpit-dinette space is maximised by having the 2 x covered helms well outboard for better vision when docking as well as the perfect spot to watch the sails when getting the most out her amazing sailing ability. This outboard area can be enclosed in dropdown clears, while still allowing walkway space across the transom. This transom also has the davits and access to the water as you can step down to each hull, other great modern feature. Yet more lounging space is available at the bows, especially with the clever infill cushions on the Open 40’s trampoline and the teak pulpit seats offer a thrilling ride. Deck locker space is plentiful here as well for fenders and other extra gear you wish to stow away.
This is an extremely modern and eye-catching performance sailing cat has been set up as a family cruiser with all the modern luxuries and features expect on a cruising catamaran including air-conditioning but it can also be used as well performing club racer. Why not cruise the Whitsundays with the family next year and then pull into Hamilton Island and join in Hammo Race Week and enjoy a bit of sport in either their cruising division or maybe the race division then cruise back down the East coast with a relaxed smile on your faces?
