Fountaine Pajot and NEEL Trimarans, both exclusively represented in the Asia Pacific by Multihull Solutions, have scooped the categories at the prestigious 2018 Yacht of the Year awards.
The remarkable NEEL 51 trimaran won 2018 European Yacht of theYear in the Multihull Category, announced at a prestigious ceremony on the flagship night of the boot Düsseldorf Show in Germany on 20 January.
Fountaine Pajot’s Saona 47 catamaran was also one of the three category nominees at the awards evening, which was jointly hosted by Delius Klasing publishing house and Messe Düsseldorf. This catamaran also won the inaugural Christofle Yacht Style Award for “Best Multihull Sailing Yacht Under 15m” earlier in January.
The groundbreaking MY 44 by Fountaine Pajot Motor Yachts was awarded European Powerboat of the Year (35-45ft) at an awards ceremony in London. The impressive catamaran also won the ‘Passagemakers’ category of the 2018 Motor Boat Award run by Motor Boat and Yachting magazine earlier in the month.
Awards judges said the MY 44 won the category for “teaming long distance capability with a useful turn of speed and tremendous living spaces.”
“In a booming sector, this powercat is one of the best on the market,” the judges said.
Multihull Solutions managing director Mark Elkington was at the 2018 European Yacht of the Year awards ceremony in Germany and said it was an honour to represent these world-leading shipyards.
“We have always maintained that Fountaine Pajot and NEEL Trimarans produce the best power and sail catamarans on the market, and it’s gratifying to see their incredible models recognised with these prestigious awards,” Mark said.
“These awards have traditionally gone to high-end monohull vessels, and after years of educating the boat-buying public, it’s great to see our multihulls now officially recognised by the international industry as the best boats within their market segment,” he said.
