West Australian couple Cameron and Nikki Weir purchased a pre-owned Leopard 38 “Dreamer” from us and are currently cruising around the North West coast of Australia. After getting used to their new cruising life in Australian waters they have long term world cruising plans. Here is the latest update from them.
Posted 4th June 2011.
Hi All,
Well we left Broome on the 1st of June (with an extra crew member aboard – Cam’s dad Davo) and in true “Dreamer” fashion have been slowly mooching our way up the coast. Taking it pretty easy as usual and doing little day trips, stopping for a fish or two and anchored up before the sun goes down..and sipping a bevy or two as it does!!
The mackerel have been biting and we have been feasting!! Spent last night at a very pretty anchorage called Pender Bay…your typical Kimberley vista of red to orange cliffs. Met some of the locals who came pelting up to us just off the coast in a little tinny early that afternoon and invited us for coffee??….The tinny had about 10 little aboriginal kids hanging off it waving and shouting at us with big grins all over their faces! (where is the camera when you need it!!!?)
Today we are on passage for Cape Leveque where we anticipate our friends Murray and Marilyn from “Uluru” will catch us up and from there will we aim for Crocodile, Silver Gull and Dog Leg Creeks before heading off to Montgomerie Reef and Horizontal Falls where will turn around and head back to Broome to drop off Davo, re-provision and then head off once again…
Hope this email finds you all safe and well.
Cam and Nikki
