Since we last spoke to you, we left our English/American/Peruvian/German friends and we ventured off to Korcula Island. In our first anchorage we walked over the hill to do another little shop and then forced ourselves to visit a wee vineyard and after some tastings, purchased a couple of bottles of wine. Our next anchorage was off a large, disused monastery, about 1 mile from Korcula Town.
Very beautiful. After spending a few days in this spot we decided to head off, only to discover that we were going to have to negotiate our way through a windsurfing regatta. It was blowing 25 – 30knots (yes we finally had some wind ) and there was a regatta with 100’s of wind and kite surfers zooming back and forth between Korcula Island and the Peljesac Peninsula. This was a channel about 2nm wide and after struggling to get the main reefed and get organised we realised that it wasn’t a go slogging into a fleet that was moving at average speeds of around 20knots! Forget that – we turned around and re-anchored. Click here for full story.
