Next it was to the island of Ithaca, anchoring in a little spot called Vathi Limani before continuing on to the harbour of Vathi itself. This was another lovely little anchorage so typical of the Ionian islands with bush all around. So I, the captain decided a walk ashore was in order and had a good stride out straight up a very steep drive / road, over the ridge and down into the delightful but small harbour of Kioni.
At this stage we had been stuck in a southerly wind system for over a week that had bought rain, thunder, lightning at times and very high humidity which was getting a little tiresome after a week or so. Thinking of Sicily ahead we are looking for some winds from the easterly quarter not westerly and a lot of this had been south at best and even south west at times.
