Top Marinas along the East Coast of Australia

While you’ll find no shortage of marinas along the east coast of Australia, it isn’t always as simple as waltzing straight into a vacant berth in your favourite site. Our eastern seaboard boasts some of the most popular cruising grounds in the world, so marinas can get crowded and some simply offer better facilities than others. If you’re preparing for an extended trip, it’s a good idea to do some research before you head out to ensure you don’t run out of water or fuel at some remote place in between.

The more that you know about your preferred marina, the easier it will be to find a berth and make yourself at home. Click here to find out more about berths for sale in Mackay Marina.

Today, we’re going to introduce you to some of the best marinas along the east coast, so that you can start planning your next big trip right now.

Breakwater Marina, Townsville

The Breakwater Marina, in North Queensland, overlooks Magnetic Island and Cleveland Bay. It has a protected oceanfront, which is perfect for both long and short term visitors. The vibe here is all about customer service, so if you’re looking for a warm reception Townsville is a great place to be.

The team at Breakwater provides tailored berths for monohulls and multihulls of all different shapes and sizes. They invite you to stick around and enjoy the scenery or fill up on fuel and get straight back out there if you’re only paying a flying visit. You can power up at any time of the day or night here.

Bundaberg Port Marina, Coral Coast

The Bundaberg Port Marina is a favourite stopover for many sailors and a beloved holiday destination for many more. Since 1998, it has been providing a comprehensive range of boating facilities, including high-quality floating berths with their own power, water, security lighting, broadband, and telephone supplies.

As the marina is so close to Hervey Bay, it is the ideal place to watch humpback whales in their natural habitat. The whales use the warm, relatively sheltered waters as a training ground for their offspring. Bundaberg is also the place to go for fast, effective ship repairs. The hardstand and ship-lift services here are regarded as world class.

Moreton Bay Trailer Boat Club, Brisbane

Moreton Bay offers a true boating and social environment. It plays host to events and activities all year round, so it is a big hit with sailors who like to mingle and meet new friends. It contains state-of-the-art floating docks with high-tech security features, as well as fuel facilities, a hardstand area, and boat servicing trades.

Multihulls are made to feel particularly welcome here, as there are specially designed berths to cater for these vessels. While the Moreton Bay marina recently added 135 new berths, the demand for space (long and short term) is high. You may need to book well in advance for this one. The marina serves as a great stop off for sailors cruising through southeast Queensland.

Sanctuary Cove, Gold Coast

This world-class marina welcomes everything from sports cruisers to super yachts. It is an all-weather harbour with a focus on premium services. Here, you’ll find everything from fuel to plus bait, ice, oil, and comfortable shower facilities. Our Gold Coast Multihull Solutions Sales Centre is also conveniently located just around the corner.

The marina is situated on the Gold Coast and functions as the gateway to both the Coomera River and the Gold Coast Broadwater. If you cruise along the coast, you’ll get the chance to enjoy the many beautiful beaches and golf courses in this region. Plus, the Gold Coast Seaway provides direct access to the Pacific Ocean.
